Kitchen & bar

The right item on the right printer, exactly once.

Gustara prints each item where it should be made, only after payment is confirmed, and tells you plainly when a printer needs attention.

One order, two dockets: the kitchen and the bar each get only their own items.

Routing

Rules that follow your venue, not a single global setting.

An item's destination is decided by where the guest is and what they ordered. Configure it once per Revenue Centre, refine it per Area, and override it for a single table if you need to.

  • Revenue Centre, then Area, then menu category decides the printer.
  • Optional override for an individual table or Service Point.
  • A built-in Test Routing tool shows where an item would print before a guest ever orders.
  • Printers have roles (Kitchen, Bar, Pass, Receipt, Report, Multifunction) and a Revenue Centre, for clear labelling.

The docket

Tickets your team can read at a glance.

Every docket carries the order number, time, Revenue Centre, Area and table, then each item with its quantity, options and the guest's note.

  • Your own header and footer text, and an optional logo.
  • Show or hide the property name, Revenue Centre, order reference and table.
  • Safeguards keep an order reference and a destination on every docket, so one is never anonymous.
  • Bold item names, and blank lines before and after for easy tearing.
  • Print a realistic test docket to check your layout before service.
Printer setup with two Epson network printers online and their last-contact times

Dependable under pressure

Built for the night a printer misbehaves.

Printers run out of paper, lose their network and get unplugged. Gustara is designed to keep a clear head when they do.

Health at a glance

See which printers are online, when each last checked in, and how many dockets are waiting.

Automatic, bounded retry

A docket that fails to print goes back in the queue and tries again. After repeated failures it is marked Print Failed so nobody assumes it was served.

No blind reprints

If a connection drops mid-ticket, the outcome is genuinely unknown. Gustara flags it for a person instead of printing a duplicate behind your back.

Safe queue clearing

Clear a stuck queue with a confirmation that names exactly which dockets will go. New orders that arrive meanwhile are never swept up.

Test print, test docket

Check a printer with a quick test, or print a realistic sample ticket to see your layout with real-looking items.

Receipts and reports too

Staff can reprint a customer receipt, and shift or management reports print to the same thermal printers.

How printers connect

A small bridge on your network. Nothing exposed to the internet.

A lightweight bridge program runs on a computer in your venue. It reaches out to Gustara for waiting dockets and sends them to the printer over your local network.

  • Outbound only. The bridge calls Gustara, so there are no inbound ports to open and no port forwarding.
  • Standard protocol. Network thermal printers that accept ESC/POS over TCP, such as Epson TM-series models.
  • Safe by default. The bridge simulates printing to its console until you deliberately switch live printing on.
  • No snooping. It never scans your network or guesses at printers. It only talks to the address you configured.
  • Machine credential. The bridge authenticates with its own key, separate from any person's login.

Live printing is network (TCP) today. Other connection types can be recorded in setup, and we will confirm the right arrangement for your hardware during your walkthrough.
